The National Task Force (NTF) is a panel constituted by the Supreme Court of India to address student mental health concerns and prevent suicides in higher education institutions.
Key Objectives:
- Identify predominant causes of student suicides, such as academic pressure, discrimination, financial burdens, and stigma surrounding mental health
- Analyze existing regulations and policies to assess their effectiveness in supporting student mental health
- Recommend measures to improve mental health and prevent student suicides
- Strengthen support systems across higher educational institutions
Composition:
The task force includes teachers, administrators,and some experts from various domains, such as social development studies, psychiatry, and civil society.
