Introduction
The department aims to inculcate among the students a sound knowledge of English literature and language by stimulating and developing their imagination and critical thinking and make them productive citizens of the society.

The Department of English started with the inception of the College in 1985. The English Honours programme started in 2014 and has been continuing successfully since then. In the present there are 5 teachers in the Department. A Spoken English course is also organised by the department every year. Apart from regular classes, remedial classes and mentoring sessions are organised by the department. The students of the department also participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as class seminars, preparing wall magazine and so on.

At the end of the B.A. Programme, the graduates will be able to
- Explore how literary works were written leading to research thinking and exploration.
- Get transformed into accomplished and active readers, enabling the students to focus on their higher studies.
- Enhance the knowledge of foundational texts of British and American literature.
- Understand the historical and cultural range of literature written in English.
- Understand the epic tradition, various dramatic, fictional and non fictional forms of English literature. .
- Know phonological and morphological aspects of English language.
